The Boathouse
The project was conceived by the desire of a local philanthropist to provide a facility for young and underprivileged children in the Fleetwood area, to be operated in conjunction with the successful expanding Boathouse Charity.
The instruction was to provide a 2 storey facility that catered for the various activities of the charity but that could also be used during the down times for other activities in order to support the funding of the charity.
The design needed to fulfil the charities needs but also needed to account for the setting of the church, vicarage, Sunday school and adjacent flats, both in terms of siting, massing and external appearance along with satisfying local concerns and importantly the available funding, therefore a considerable amount of design input and adjustment was required to satisfy all aspects and all parties, including the provision of CGI images and year round shadow studies.
The project is now completed and is operating successfully and we are currently instructed on a similar further project within Wyre Borough.
